Scholastic Clay Target Program
What is a Fudd Duster?
The Fudd Dusters Shotgun Sporting Team is a club that competes in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) in Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays, International Skeet and International Bunker Trap. While competition is part of our program, the main idea is to teach the fundamentals of the shotgun sports. This is a sport that can be enjoyed throughout a lifetime. Our athletes range in age from as young as 7 years old through High School Seniors. Boys and girls are eligible to join, but they must maintain passing grades in their schoolwork.

Empowering Youth Through Safe Shooting Practices
Our Success
Our athletes have distinguished themselves by earning several state and national championships. Fudd Dusters are known all over the nation. But the greatest success is in teaching several hundred youths safe gun handling and a sport that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.
What We Teach
Safety is our main concern. All athletes must complete a safety class before they participate. We teach and enforce safe gun handling and range safety rules. We also teach the rules and procedures of the various disciplines of the shotgun sports. Beginning shooters start out on our Dry-Fire system. With this we are able to observe and correct gun handling errors before they are allowed live ammunition. We try to help each athlete succeed through instruction, motivation and advice.
Our Coaches
Our coaches are NRA certified Level #1 Shotgun Coaches. They have taken the classes and volunteer their time and experience to help the athletes to become better shooters.
Joining The Team
The shotgun sports are not an inexpensive hobby. However, we are able to make it more affordable with help from our various sponsors and donors. There are also fundraising opportunities that can help defray the cost. Contact one of the coaches to learn about the actual costs of competing.
Our home club is Bellevue Conservation Club, but our athletes are from all over south central Michigan, including Bellevue, Olivet, Charlotte, Battle Creek, Marshall, Burlington, Fulton, Vicksburg, and Shelbyville.
Our training locations are: Climax American Legion– Dry-Fire indoors, Bellevue Conservation Club– Dry-Fire indoors, Skeet, Trap and 5-Stand outside, Gun River Skeet & Trap Club– Skeet, Sporting Clays & Trap, and Hillsdale College John A Halter Shooting Sports Center– Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays & International Bunker Trap.
